Stone
Stone evokes many associations such as hardness, weight, massiveness, capaciousness, insolence, and so on. The path to a successful work leads through these characteristics: under certain circumstances, it can be very effective and successful to work with absolutely contradictory features of stone. I for example juxtaposed the features of hardness and capaciousness to arrive, through a creative process, to transparency and fragility. Empty spaces contrast with weight, capaciousness. In the last three years, I have been working mainly with negative, hollow spaces in connection with undefined functionality. I have been inspired by many remains of stone foundations of unknown statues of ancient civilisations as well as by my collection of production objects of optical and exact tools. For me, the leading principle is that the more mysterious an object is, the more attractive it appears. I do not specify the marking of any of these openings, channels and chimneys in my objects; I don’t in fact want to know them myself.
