Karel Štědrý
was born on January 30, 1985 in Prague where he lives and works. Between 2003 and 2010, he attended the painting studio of Stanislav Diviš at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He is a member of the Obr group of painters. Karel Štědrý is a spontaneous colorist whose paintings with layers of paint and strokes include motifs ranging from modernist abstract canvases by Piet Mondrian to geometric shapes and models from the reality; one of the sources of Karel’s inspiration is the aesthetics of street-art sprayers. He also applied his distinct style to portrait and figure, and recently began exploring the geometrical possibilities of the circle, and has created a series of profane mandalas and aureoles.
