The jubilee tenth annual Mikulov Art Symposium "dílna" 2003 (the workshop) was approved by the
Mikulov Town Council headed by its mayor Eduard Kulhavý.

The "dílna" took place on July 19, 2003 – August 16, 2003, in the premises of the Mikulov Chateau with significant aid of the staff of the Regional Museum in Mikulov.

The ceremonial opening took place on July 19, 2003 at 17:00 o'clock in the main courtyard of the Mikulov
Chateau. All participants and guests were welcomed by town mayor,Mr. Eduard Kulhavý, and director of the Regional Museum, Ms. Dobromila Brichtová. Speeches were also presented by representatives of the main partners and supporters of the tenth annual symposium Miss Petra Škvorová, director of Foundation Nova ing. arch. Lydie Filipová, chairperson of the Cultural Committee of the Council of the South Moravian Region ing. Martin Slezák, director of the Commercial Centre of Česká spořitelna, a.s. – representative of the general partner of MVS, and ing. Radovan Slaný, manager of branch of T-Systems in Brno – representative of the main partner of MVS. The group of participants in this event was personally introduced by the "curator of curators", Mr. Petr Nikl. The program continued under the guidance of the production manager of the company Avedon s. r. o., Mrs. Jitka Kapičáková Havlíková. Music accompaniment was ensured by the Mikulov group M-Kvintet. The Cultural Centre of Mikulov prepared a traditional July night in the Chateau garden to close the evening, where Band Blues Revival Superlimonáda from Brno performed. On the eve of the ceremonial opening, on July 18, 2003, from 19:00 o'clock, a private view of sculptures and paintings of 12 participants in the MVS 2003 took place in the Gallery Upper Stable of the company RAP, spol. s r. o. It was opened by the performance of amateur theatre ensemble Přechod called "How nasty you are! Instead of helping me, you failed to help me".
The opening was introduced by a private view of the exhibition of Libor Lípa Museum LL, which took place on July 19, 2003, from 15:20 o'clock in the western wing of the Chateau.

On the eve of the private view, on August 15, 2003, a traditional carnival procession went through the town up to the Chateau garden. There the Cultural Centre organized a concert of the well-known rock group Divoký srdce, which was followed by the Mikulov formation E-Band with Oldřich Veselý.

The private view of the tenth annual Mikulov Art Symposium "dílna" 2003 took place on August 16, 2003
at 17:00 o'clock in the main courtyard of the Chateau.The ceremonial unveiling of the pieces was preceded by a recitation of melodramatic poem "Seafarers" from the collection "Complexes and wits" of Vítězslav Vrbka, which was presented by Simona Peková on the basis of music of Oldřich Veselý. The exhibition was opened by Ms. Dobromila Brichtová, director of the Regional Museum. History of the Mikulov "dílna" was explained by a representative of the Advisory Committee of MVS, Ms. Marcela Effenbergerová. The exhibiting artists and pieces created this year were introduced by the curator Petr Nikl. Jaroslav Róna had a short speech on behalf of all participants of this year. Guests were also addressed by art writer Mr. Jiří Olič, representatives of general and main partners of MVS ing. Tomáš Krábek, director of the regional branch of Česká spořitelna Břeclav, and ing. Anton Zima, director of the communication department of the company T-Systems Prague. Other speeches were held by ing. František Polách, first deputy of the regional administrator of the South Moravian Region, and Roman Musil, representative of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. Performance of Mužácký sbor from Dolní Dunajovice was a great success. The workshop T-shirt with signatures of all participants in this MVS was sold in auction for CZK 5,000. This amount was granted to the art circle of the House of Children and Youth in Mikulov to purchase art materials.Visitors could access the light installation Holy Hill of Petr Nikl in his "curator's studio" for the whole period of the private view. This ceremonial day was finally closed by a concert of a large jazz big band Zatrestband from Třešť, which surely met its only ambition - well amuse and make the audience dance - with their swing music.

This jubilee tenth annual MVS, which was also called "the curators' event", was a meeting of all past
curators, i.e. artists, who shaped individual annual events of the "dílna". Academic artist Petr Nikl was
appointed the curator of this jubilee annual event. Though he was deprived of the right to select the
group of artists for this event, he played his role with the ease that was so typical of him.
