The eighth annual Mikulov Art Symposium "Workshop" 2001 was approved by the Mikulov Town Council
headed by its mayor Ing. Stanislav Mach.
The "Workshop" took place on July 21 - August 18, 2001, in the premises of the Mikulov Chateau with significant aid of the staff of the Regional Museum in Mikulov.
The ceremonial opening took place on July 21, 2001, at 17.00 in the premises of Salla Terena of the Mikulov Chateau. Short kind speeches were presented by the Mikulov mayor Mr. Stanislav Mach, Ms.
Dobromila Brichtová - director of the Regional Museum in Mikulov, Mr. Tomáš Císařovský - curator of
the Symposium, Mr. Vítězslav Vrbka - representative of Advisory Committee, Ms. Martina Mansfeldová
- director of the production company AVEDON, with the accompanying speech of Ms. Jitka Chromá. Friendly atmosphere of the early evening was completed with music played by the Romany jazz formation

On the eve of the private view, on August 17, 2001, a traditional carnival procession went through the
town. This time, it was accompanied with wild rhymes of drummers from the group Mango Molas. The
multitude of masks reached the town swimming pool where Summer dance night was organized in cooperation with the Cultural Centre in Mikulov. Music was played by the groups Coblich, U nás se svítí,
Mango Molas and Kulturní úderka.
Before the ceremonial unveiling of the pieces created during the "Workshop", which was staged on
August 18, 2001, at 15.00, those interested could visit the private view of the sixth annual exhibition
of the Czech interior production in the hotel Rohatý krokodýl.
The private view of the Mikulov Art Symposium "Workshop" 2001 took place on August 18, 2001, at 17.00, at the theatre hall of the Mikulov Chateau. The speeches for the guests were presented by: Mikulov mayor Stanislav Mach, Symposium curator Tomáš Císařovský, Symposium participants Tomáš Lahoda, Petr Nikl, Otto Placht, Ivana Lomová, technical assistant Vojtěch Kovářík and representative of the Advisory Committee Libor Lípa. Jitka Chromá had an accompanying speech. The guests could see the exhibited pieces directly in the ateliers of the artists. The evening programme continued with a fashion show of Michaela Klimanová Trizuljaková. The group Gamba Blues Band played for enjoyment and dance.
A big surprise for the guests of the private view was the expected arrival of the movable statute "Wooden car", which was made by Vít Novotný, graduate of the Academy of Arts in Prague and technical assistant of the fourth annual "Workshop" in 1997.
Tomáš Císařovský was the curator of this Mikulov Art Symposium "Workshop" 2001. With his nice approach to people and animals, he helped to create a kind atmosphere among the participants and
all others, who contributed to the course of the event.
