Dílna Mikulov - Art symposium

The holding of the 14th year of the Mikulov Art Symposium “dílna“ ´07 was approved by the Mikulov Town Council headed by the Mayor Rostislav Koštial.

“Dílna“ took place between 21st July and 18th August, 2007 at the Mikulov Chateau with major assistance provided by the employees of the Regional Museum in Mikulov.

The 14th year of the Mikulov Art Symposium was inaugurated on Saturday, 21st July 2007 at 6 PM at the Upper Courtyard of the Mikulov Chateau. The event was presented by Jitka Kapičáková Havlíková, the production manager of the Avedon Company, who gave the floor to the Mayor of Mikulov Rostislav Koštial, the deputy director of the Regional Museum in Mikulov Stanislava Vrbková and Marcela Effenbergerová, a member of the MAS “dílna“ Advisory Board. The curator of this year's MAS Antonín Kratochvíl could not personally attend the inauguration and the individual participants of the Symposium were introduced by last year's curator Eva Eisler and the theoretician of the year Pavel Liška. Then the floor went to Libor Lípa, a member of the MAS “dílna“ Advisory Board, who established a telephone connection with curator Antonín Kratochvíl during which the curator greeted everybody and apologized for his absence. The inauguration also featured an exhibition of the works by the participants of last year's MAS “dílna“. In Gajdoš Hall, short video portraits of all participants were screened. The Rosen Trio from Mikulov accompanied the event with live music.

The exhibition opening of the 14th year of the Mikulov Art Symposium “dílna“ took place on Saturday, the 18th August 2007 at 6 PM at the Upper Courtyard of the Mikulov Chateau. The opening address was delivered by Marcela Effenbergerová, a member of the MAS “dílna“ Advisory Board, and the audience was also addressed by the Mayor of Mikulov Rostislav Koštial, the director of the Regional Museum in Mikulov Petr Kubín, and Martin Slezák, a representative of the general partner Česká Spořitelna. This year's participants gave their farewells to the guests and the closing words came from Pavel Liška, the theoretician of the this year's “dílna“ who also oficially opened the exhibition. Works were installed in the halls and corridors of the Chateau as well as in the studios where they had been created. The exhibition opening concluded with a concert by the bands „Tři Lotři“ and „Laura a její
tygři“ and with a projection by Petr Zubek on the tower of the Mikulov Chateau.

The curator of the 14th year was the photographer Antonín Kratochvíl whose selection of participants shifted the Symposium towards new horizons of art that had previously been unexplored in Mikulov. Words of one of the participating artist say it all: „We believe that a conceptual artist is a human being, and he is funny, too.“
