Dílna Mikulov - Art symposium

Facts

The 13th year of the Mikulov Art Symposium "dílna" was approved by the council of the town of Mikulov headed by the Mayor Eduard Kulhavý.

Dílna took place between 15th July and 12th August 2006 at the Chateau with great support of the staff of the Regional Museum in Mikulov.

The Inauguration of the Mikulov Art Symposium took place on Saturday, 15th July 2006 at 8 PM in the Chateau Park in Mikulov. The unusually late hour of the event made it possible to screen video presentations of the participating artists in the open air while the video projection was provided by Pavel Čadík with his Mobile Cinema. The guests were greeted and welcomed by the director of the Regional Museum in Mikulov Dobromila Brichtová, who used to opportunity to invite everybody to see the exhibition "Story of the Restoration of the Zwettl Altar from Adamov". Ms Brichtová was followed by the representative of the main organizer, the Deputy Mayor of Mikulov Jaroslav Smečka and the representative of the permanent general partner of the event, Tomáš Krábek, the director of the regional center of Česká Spořitelna Břeclav. Afterwards, the members of the MAS "dílna" Advisory Board Marcela Effenbergerová and Libor Lípa addressed the audience and introduced the curator of the 13th year, the artist and designer Eva Eisler, who presented the artists. An unexpected duty of hers was the specification of the lists of the artists as Magadalena Jetelová and Jan Synek, the technical assistant, excused themselves for serious reasons, and both positions were assumed by Tomáš Ruller. These unanticipated
changes fortunately did not affect the successful course of the event. After the introduction of the individual artists, the program of the Inauguration continued with video presentation of all participants and songs of the Male Choir from Březí, that later went on to sing in front of nearby Mr Miroslav Ondráček's wine cellar as a part of the Open Cellar Day. The whole night was hosted by Jitka Kapičaková Havlíková, production manager of the Avedon production company.

During the initial days of this year's "dílna", the Mobile Cinema of the Čadík Brothers showed movies in the improvised open-air cinema in the Chateau Park. Visitors could see a Czech or a foreign movie every night of the first week of the Symposium.

The final Exhibition Opening of the 13th year of the Mikulov Art Symposium "dílna" was held on Saturday, 12th August 2006 at 5 PM. Due to bad weather, the program as well as some of the works had to be moved inside the Chateau. The ceremony began in the Entrance Hall where the guests were addressed by the director of the Regional Museum of Mikulov Dobromila Brichtová, the Mayor of Mikulov Eduard Kulhavý, the representative of the general partner Česká spořitelna Martin Slezák and the representative of the Advisory Board Libor Lípa. Eva Eisler, the curator of the 13th year of the MAS, then opened the exhibition. The exhibition of the works featured a several-hours-long performance by Tomáš Ruller at the courtyard of the Chateau. The works were displayed in the Chateau halls and corridors as well as in the studios where they were created. The exhibition was accompanied by the music show by the Brno musician Pavel Fajt who prepared an intriguing drum performance to the video presentation of the individual participants. The Opening together with the 13th year of the Mikulov Art Symposium "dílna" was closed by the concert of the band Moimir Papalescu and the Nihilists that, due to persistent rain, also took place inside the Chateau.

The artists and designer Eva Eisler, the curator of the 13th year, not only put together a great team of artists, but thanks to her professional attitude also gained great publicity for the Symposium and the Mikulov Art Symposium "dílna" was therefore presented at the Czech Center in New York where for the period of three months (June – August 2006), reproductions of most the art works created during the 12 years of the Symposium were on display.
